I own a 2002 Ford Taurus SES. I absolutely love this car, it is my first automobile & I purchased it back in September 2009. I remember when I went to get the information on the vehicle, the people at the dealership said something abuot the car having a "speical enigne." Driivng the car is a breeze, and it cleraly has some good pick-up. Howveer, what's so special about a 3.0L V6? I know V6 is better then a 4 cylnider, but does the 3.0L have something to do with this being a "special engine?" Also, on the side fenders of the car; there's a small emblem that has a picture of a road & a green leaf attached to it. What does this emblem mean? Thanks for the answers.
What does a 3.0L V6 engine mean?

3.0 liters is the displacement of the cylinders...so 6 cylinders isnt always better than 4cyl casue you could have a 3 liter 4 cyl engine
there are alot of variables
It;s a 3l v6
Like stated previously the 3.0 is the displacement. Displacement is the area the piston bore takes up. So collectively your cylinders displace 3 ltrs. Now as far as 6 cylinders being better than 4 cylinders is debatable. Pound for pound a I configruation, what most 4 cylinders are beat out V configruation engines. The I-4 has it pistons at a 90 degree angle to the crankshaft which produces more toqrue than the 45 +/- degeres of a V configuration. That exrta torque equtaes to quikcer accelreation. The plus to haivng a V configuration is spcae and a smotoher engine. The cylinders oppose eachother so the space is saved and the firing order also fires on different sides so the vibration of cylinders firing is offset. Now to the special engine. Sorry the 3.0 is a good engine but the it was offered in every trim level of that year. The green leaf just means it is fairly fuel efficient. Hope this helps.
The emblem indicates it is a flex fuel vehicle, I believe. It menas it can run on an alternative fuel in addition to regular gasoline, like E85 or Compressed Natural Gas. As for the engine, the 3.0 stands for the engnies displcaement. It means that, for evrey 2 tiems the engine makes a complete rotation, it moves 3.0 liters of air. V6 just means it has 6 cylinders, arranged in a V formation, if you look at the engine from the front.
inline 6 is better
